Day2

9dec 2016

1.Illustrator

created designs for the logo on shirts. creating a rich black background
is a tough nut. need to check online  resources.Understands the theory .But still...

Bezold effect = optical mixing = adding dark patches to a uniform hue bg makes the whole area darker
 Adding light patches make the area lighter

When 2 colors are close in Value (brightness) -> glow

2.Minor arcana -pip cards
  1 to 10 meanings
  Personal year number
  Meaning of Wands

Day 1

1.Design book etc.

scale:
objective- literal dimensions of an object OR
           literal correlation btw an object and it's representation

eg: map has exact scale , model car has exact correlation with real car

subjective -a person's impression of an object's size
eg: a room has grand scale -> compared to my body ,the room is quite big

A representation(image) has scale ,when it has elements that connect it to real experience
-> the image then gets a physical identity

When elements in an image has no contrast in scale, it feels dull ,static

Scale is relative
An element feels larger or smaller depending upon the surrounding elements

smaller objs seem far, larger ones feel closer

Texture:
is physical(actual surface) and virtual(optical appearance)

Color:
primary -R Y B  cannot be mixed from others

secondary -mix of 2 primaries
Orange = R +Y
Purple = R+B
Green = B + Y

Teritiary = 1 primary + 1 secondary
Orange Red, Yellow Green

Complements = opp in clor wheel
R/G , B/O, Y/P

Analogous = near each other on the color wheel

Aspects of color
Hue = position in spectrum
Value = Lightness-darkness
 for same hue , Value = 0 -> black , value=100 -> bright hue
   100% red = dark red
     0% red = white

Saturation = dull color - intense color
             0 sat = grey
            100sat = intense

Shade = variation of hue by adding black
Tint = variation of hue by adding white

RGB  additive colors -add  color 'light' to black

CMYK subtractive colors -
 removes one primary colors from light striking it
light-> cyan ->G,B   .removed (subtracted )R
light-> magenta -> R,B  .removed G
light-> yellow-> R,G   .removed B

mixing all 3 (C,Y,M) ->removes R,G,B , so appears black

CMYK = process colors
Theoretically C+M+Y should remove all R,G,B -> should give black
In reality, CMYK inks do not behave perfectly.They absorb,transmit some colors
they shouldn't. So, perfect black is never obtained when all 3 are mixed.

Deep black is = 50% cyan + 100% K

Spot colors = non process colors that cannot be obtained by mixing CMY

2.Recreated letter M for logo in illustrator using Pen and Shapebuilder.

3.The Star in Major Arcana was studied briefly
  Zodiac drawn with decans
  Pip cards at flanking decans for the 4 angles of Zodiac noted.
  For Aries 0 - vernal equinox
   Mars in Pisces decan -10 cups=family harmony
   Mars in Aries decan -2 Wands = man pondering options
